How to Start a Shower Filter Brand: From First Sample to Repeat Orders

If you want to know how to start a shower filter brand, work in this order: decide who you are selling to and which water problem you solve, pick a base model and cartridge, customize the logo and packaging, approve a sample, place a first order, and plan your replacement cartridges before you launch. This guide follows the order a factory actually works in, with the real numbers from Jinko’s shower filter line.

It covers the product side of launching your own filter brand. It does not cover company registration, store setup or advertising, and it is not about starting a water treatment service business.

Step 1: Decide who you sell to and what problem you solve

Start with one sentence: who buys your filter, and why. A skincare brand might sell a softer-feeling shower as part of a self-care routine. A home goods seller might target people who notice a chlorine smell. A hotel or apartment supplier cares about easy cartridge changes and a consistent look across hundreds of bathrooms.

Write that promise down before you look at products. It decides the format, the cartridge, the packaging and the claims you put on the box. If a later choice does not support the promise, leave it out. If Amazon will be your main channel, also read how to sell shower filters on Amazon.

Step 2: Choose the filter format and a base model

Most new brands start from a model the factory already makes. Jinko’s shower filters install in front of the shower head or overhead shower, so your customer keeps the shower head they already have. They connect with a standard G1/2″ thread, usually without an adapter, and work with water at 5 to 55°C and pressure of 0.1 to 0.5 MPa.

Model What stands out What you can customize
JK-S3 Clip-in design with side connections, quick cartridge changes Logo, packaging, manual, cartridge configuration
JK-S4 Diamond-cut housing Logo, packaging, manual, color, surface finish, cartridge configuration
JK-S6 Aluminum housing for the premium segment Logo, packaging, manual, color, surface finish, cartridge configuration

Jinko’s plastic models use ABS and PP, and the metal model uses aluminum. If your brand sits in the premium segment, the aluminum JK-S6 gives you a metal product to work with.

Step 3: Choose the cartridge media and the claims you can make

The cartridge is what your customer is really paying for, so choose it by the problem from Step 1:

  • JK-S3: PP cotton with calcium sulfite, a carbon block cartridge, or a carbon fiber cartridge.
  • JK-S4 and JK-S6: a composite cartridge with carbon fiber, copper-zinc (KDF-type) media, calcium sulfite and vitamin C.

For a beauty or self-care brand, the vitamin C formula can also carry your own scent and color. Our KDF vs vitamin C shower filter guide explains how the media differ.

Be careful with claims. Only print what a test report supports for that exact model and cartridge. Jinko’s shower filters come with CE and RoHS documentation. If you want to state reduction figures for chlorine or other substances, ask your factory for the report behind each number before it goes on the box or your product page.

Step 4: Decide how much to customize

On Jinko’s shower filters, logo, packaging and the user manual are standard services. Cartridge formula, color and surface finish are evaluated for each order, because they depend on the model and the quantity.

Most brands start with an existing model plus their own logo and packaging, then change color, finish or formula on a later order. If you are not sure which cooperation model fits, read OEM vs ODM vs private label first.

Step 5: Design packaging that sells

You can choose a mailer box for online orders or a gift box for retail and gifting. Inside the box your customer gets the filter body and the cartridge. The shower head is not included, so say that clearly on the box and in your product photos to avoid returns.

Put the practical details on the packaging too: where the filter installs, the G1/2″ connection, how often to change the cartridge, and which replacement cartridge fits. Customers who can find the right refill come back for it. Our shower filter packaging guide covers box types, what to print and how to approve the artwork.

Step 6: Order samples and approve them

A sample of an existing model takes 2 to 3 days. A customized sample, with your logo, color or formula, takes 5 to 7 days. Sample fees depend on the request, and the fee can be credited against your order.

When the sample arrives, install it on a real shower. Check for leaks at both connections, how the water feels, how easily the cartridge comes out, and whether the finish, logo and box match what you approved. Our private label sample approval guide has the full checklist.

Step 7: Place your first order

The minimum order for Jinko’s shower filters starts from 1,000 units and can be adjusted depending on the model and how much you customize. Orders are normally placed per model rather than mixed. Our shower filter MOQ guide explains how to plan that first quantity. Mass production takes 20 days after you approve the sample, and orders are checked for leaks, pressure resistance, appearance and packaging before shipment.

Stage Typical time
Sample of an existing model 2 to 3 days
Customized sample 5 to 7 days
Your review and approval Depends on you
Mass production 20 days
Shipping Depends on destination and method

Your approval step is the one that usually stretches. Decide who signs off on the sample, the artwork and the packaging before you order, so the factory is not waiting on you. Our guide to private label shower filter lead time breaks down each stage.

Step 8: Plan replacement cartridges from day one

A shower filter cartridge should be changed every 3 to 6 months, so every customer who keeps using your filter will need refills. Plan the refill pack, its packaging and your stock with the first order, not after launch.

Check cartridge compatibility when you choose your model. On Jinko’s range, the JK-S4 and JK-S6 use the same cartridge, while the JK-S3 has its own. Our shower filter replacement guide explains how replacement intervals are set.

Step 9: Set up warranty and after-sales

Jinko’s shower filters carry a one-year warranty from the shipping date. If a quality problem comes up, you send photos or a video, and once the problem is confirmed, replacement products are sent to you.

Match your own customer policy to that. Tell your buyers how to report a leak or a fit problem, and ask for the same photos or video, so you can pass a claim back to the factory without delay.

What to send a factory in your first inquiry

You will get a useful answer faster if your first message covers four things:

  • The product you want, or a photo of a reference model
  • Your sales channel, for example your own online store, retail or hotels
  • The quantity you have in mind
  • What you want to customize: logo, packaging, color or cartridge formula

Add your target market as well, because it affects the cartridge choice and the documents you need. For a longer list of questions to ask before you choose a partner, see how to choose a shower filter supplier for your brand.
