Custom Scented Shower Filter: How to Plan a Vitamin C Cartridge Line

Scented vitamin C shower filters are already common in retail. Brands sell lavender, rose or mint versions, and many keep an unscented one beside them. If you want a custom scented shower filter under your own brand, the work is mostly planning: which model carries the cartridge, how many scents to launch, which colors to change, and how refills fit in. At Jinko, scent and color options are confirmed with our cartridge supplier for each project, and a custom cartridge is evaluated for each order.

Which models take a vitamin C cartridge

Start with the housing, because it decides which cartridge you can use. On Jinko’s inline range, the JK-S4 and JK-S6 use a composite cartridge of carbon fiber, copper-zinc (KDF-type) media, calcium sulfite and vitamin C. That is the cartridge you would scent and color. The two models share the same cartridge, so one formula can serve both.

The JK-S3 is configured differently. It takes PP cotton with calcium sulfite, a carbon rod or a carbon fiber cartridge, without vitamin C. If a scented vitamin C line is the core of your brand, plan it around the S4 or S6. Handheld vitamin C filters are another route, as in the rose aroma project shown above. Our KDF vs vitamin C shower filter comparison explains how the two media differ.

How many scents to launch with

Look at what the retail market already sells under names like scented shower filter or aroma shower filter. Lavender, rose, jasmine and mint come up again and again, and several brands also offer a fragrance-free version for customers who prefer no scent. You do not need to copy that range. You need a reason for each scent you add. Scents also work well in a shower filter gift set.

For a first order, two or three scents are usually easier to manage than six. Each scent is a separate cartridge to approve, a separate refill to stock and a separate name to print. Because a custom cartridge is evaluated per order, ask how the minimum applies to each scent before you fix the range. Our shower filter MOQ guide explains how the minimum is set.

Two kinds of color: cartridge and housing

When brands say “custom color”, they can mean two different things.

Cartridge color Housing color
What changes The color of the vitamin C media the customer sees when they change the cartridge The outside of the filter, the part on show in the bathroom
How it is handled Part of the custom cartridge formula, evaluated per order On the JK-S4 and JK-S6: spray coating with UV finish, electroplating or colored injection molding, evaluated per order
Good for Linking each scent to a color, such as pink for rose Matching your brand palette or bathroom style

You can change one, both or neither. Matching the cartridge color to the scent helps customers reorder the right refill, and it photographs well.

Scent, color and your refill plan

The cartridge should be changed every 3 to 6 months, so your refill is where the repeat sales come from. With scents in the range, each refill becomes its own SKU. Print the scent name and the filter model it fits on every refill pack, and use the same color for the scent on the main box and the refill.

Because the S4 and S6 share a cartridge, a customer who owns either model can buy any scent in your range. Make that clear on your product page. Our shower filter packaging guide covers what to print on the box and the refill pack, and the shower filter replacement guide covers replacement intervals.

What to check on your scented sample

A customized sample takes 5 to 7 days. When it arrives, check more than the filter itself:

  • Is the scent the one you asked for, and is the strength right for your customer?
  • Does the cartridge color match your reference under normal light?
  • Does the housing color or finish match your brand palette?
  • Is the scent name on the box and the refill pack correct?
  • Does the filter fit your shower and run without leaks?

Keep the approved sample and photos of it as the reference for mass production. Our private label sample approval guide walks through the full check.

Get these answers in writing

Before you fix the range, ask for written answers on a few points: which scents can already be made and which would be new development, where the fragrance comes from and which safety documents come with it, how long the scent lasts in normal use, and whether it changes how long the cartridge lasts. Ask as well whether the minimum applies per scent, per color or per order, and how cartridge color is kept consistent from batch to batch. Print scent claims on your packaging only once you have those answers. For the full launch sequence, read how to start a shower filter brand.
